๐ŸŒธ *FRIDAY SERIES*๐ŸŒธ

โ“ *QUESTION*โ“

*Should I pray Dhuhr AFTER I have prayed Jumuโ€™ah*โ“

๐ŸŒฟ *ANSWER*๐ŸŒฟ

The Friday prayer is prayed *INSTEAD* of Dhuhr on Fridays.

So thereโ€™s NO NEED to pray Dhuhr after praying Jumuโ€™ah in congregation.

In fact itโ€™s AGAINST the practice and teachings of the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam.
And thereโ€™s NO EVIDENCE of him doing that. EVER.

Whenever the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam finished praying the Jumuโ€™ah prayer, he Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam did NOT pray Dhuhr or ANY OTHER obligatory Salaah.
All he read was the Sunnah after the prayer.
Thatโ€™s it.

Similarly, the Sahaabah also did NOT pray Dhuhr after praying Jumuโ€™ah.

And why should they?

They never saw the Prophet ๏ทบ praying Dhuhr on the day of Jumuโ€™ah
Nor did the Prophet ๏ทบ ever teach them that either.

So praying Dhuhr after praying two rakโ€™aat of Jumuโ€™ah is NOT part of the Shareeโ€™ah.

๐Ÿƒ Shaikh Ibn Baaz said:

โ€œAllaah has NOT prescribed any prayer at noon time on Fridays except ONE obligatory prayer for men who are residents and are settled (i.e., not traveling), free and accountable, which is the *Jumuโ€™ah prayer*.
If the Muslims do that, then there is no other obligation upon them, be it Dhuhr or any other prayer.
*Jumuโ€™ah prayer* is the obligation of that time.โ€
(Majmooโ€™ Fataawa Wa Maqaalaat Mutanawwiโ€™ah Li Samaahat, Part 12, P. 363)

๐Ÿ”บActually itโ€™s BIDโ€™AH to pray Dhuhr after Jumuโ€™ah prayer and bidโ€™ah is a HUGE SIN!

๐Ÿƒ Shaikh Ibn Baaz said:

โ€œUndoubtedly praying Dhuhr after Jumuโ€™ah is something INNOVATED which is NOT a part of the Deen of the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam.
So it is to be REJECTED and is to be included in the innovations and misguidance against which the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam warned us.โ€

๐Ÿƒ And he said:

โ€œPraying Dhuhr after Jumuโ€™ah is a bidโ€™ah and a going astray, instituting a new way which Allaah has not prescribed.
We must NOT do this; we must beware of it and warn people against it, and *limit ourselves to doing Jumuโ€™ah prayer only*, as was the way of the Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam, his companions after him and those who have followed them in truth until the present day.
This is the truth concerning which there is no doubt.โ€
(Majmooโ€™ Fataawa -Part 12, P. 363)

โ“ *QUESTION*โ“

*What if Iโ€™m praying at HOME on a Friday afternoon?*

Jumuโ€™ah prayer is ONLY VALID when praying in congregation in the MASJID.
Reading two rakโ€™aat of Jumuโ€™ah prayer is NOT VALID at home.

So if youโ€™re a woman, or a traveler or sick etc and youโ€™re not praying in the masjid on Friday afternoon for some reason, then you have to pray *Dhuhr* at home, just as you would any other day.

And Allaah knows best
